Scholarship Program

Since 2011, under the Temporary Protection orders issued by the Turkish government, Syrians have a right to education in Turkey. However, despite generous government allowances, the biggest barrier to enrollment at university is the financial cost associated with obtaining a college education such as preparatory courses, textbooks, room and board, and transportation.

Our Scholarship Program provides Syrian refugee students with relief from this burden by offering semester-based conditional cash stipends as a form of gap funding.

In addition to financial assistance, the Scholarship Program offers support by:

1

Coaching high school students to prepare them for university.

2

Investing in the personal and professional growth of university students.

3

Providing access to internship opportunities to help exceptional students thrive upon graduating.

The goal of the Scholarship Program is to prepare youth for university, prepare university students for the workforce, and build leadership qualities in scholars so that they can give back to local and greater communities. We strive to create a community in which refugees are well-rounded, educated, and competitively employed members of the Turkish and international workforce and who positively contribute to their societies wherever they may go.

You are eligible to apply to the Scholarship Program if you meet the following criteria:

  • Syrian national currently residing in Turkey
  • Hold college acceptance at a public Turkish university

Recipients of the scholarship are required to:

  • Complete 48 volunteer hours with any social good organization of their choice per semester.

  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 each semester
  • Attend 24 hours of professional development workshops

  • Participate in quarterly calls with their advisor

Integration Initiatives

Oftentimes, finding one’s place in a new country with a culture, laws, and policies different than one’s own can be a difficult process. That’s why we work to provide families with opportunities to learn more about Turkish culture, laws, rights, responsibilities, and procedures. Additionally, we organize activities and ice-breaker initiatives to offer families and Turkish community members the chance to meet, engage, and build lasting relations.

Applications for the 2020-2021 cycle are now closed. Cick to be notified when 2021-2022 applications are open
